หลักการใช้คำกริยา like ที่ตามหลังด้วยคำกริยาช่องที่ 1 แบบใช้ to

• like เป็นคำกริยาแท้ (main verb) แปลว่า ชอบ

• Infinitive with to คือคำกริยาช่องที่ 1 ที่มี to นำหน้า เช่น      

           - to dance

           - to play

           - to go

• หน้าที่ของ Infinitive with to  ในบทเรียนนี้คือ ตามหลังคำกริยา like เพื่อทำหน้าที่เป็นกรรม (object) ของประโยค เช่น

           - I like to play football. 

           - You like to play badminton.

           - We like to play golf.

           - They like to play baseball.

เมื่อประธานของประโยคเป็นเอกพจน์ (ผู้กระทำคนเดียว) คำกริยา like ต้องเติม -s ในประโยคบอกเล่า

           - He likes to play basketball.

           - She likes to play volleyball.
